Matric season brings plenty of visual noise: trend predictions, dress rules and friends’ opinions. Kay-Lee creates matric dance makeup City Bowl with care — Kay-Lee cuts through it by returning to three things — what suits you, what you enjoy and what works with the outfit. From soft definition and natural texture to sharp liner and a sculptural updo, the result is designed rather than selected from a menu.
That design must work in several kinds of light. Kay-Lee creates complexion dimension for close conversation and photographs, then gives eyes, cheeks or lips enough presence for the evening. Hair is prepared according to its real texture and the structure required. Comfort remains part of quality; pins, lashes and coverage should not distract you throughout the farewell.
The City Bowl includes school communities such as Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck in Gardens, St Cyprian’s School in Oranjezicht, Cape Town High School and Herzlia High School in Vredehoek. Kay-Lee welcomes matric bookings from schools throughout the City Bowl and plans every look around the individual student.
Kay-Lee is a fully qualified artist whose development included mentorship by Cecilia Fourie. Her kit contains Bobbi Brown, MAC, Estée Lauder, Benefit, NARS, Fenty, Chanel and Kylie Cosmetics. Access to different formulas and colours helps her customise the result, whether the brief calls for barely-there polish or unmistakable matric dance glamour.
One Deadline, Every Detail Accounted For
City timing can be unforgiving, so Kay-Lee asks when the student needs to be ready for dressing, photographs or departure — not merely when the dance begins. She schedules backwards from that deadline. Mobile service can be arranged, and group bookings are staffed with additional qualified artists if one artist cannot deliver every service without rushing.
Parents get direct answers about preparation and timing. Students get control over how they are presented on a significant night. Optional trials are useful for testing a new direction or reducing uncertainty, while thoughtful consultation keeps even a no-trial booking personal and well planned.

I honestly cannot recommend kay-Lee enough. From the moment she arrived on the morning of my wedding, she brought such a calm, comforting energy that completely put me at ease during what could have been a very overwhelming morning. I was so relaxed in her chair that I genuinely almost fell asleep! Not only is she unbelievably talented - my makeup was the best it has ever looked - but she also handled everything with such grace and professionalism. We even had a few extra people unexpectedly wanting makeup done on the day, and she didn’t stress or make it an issue for a second. She accommodated everyone so calmly and kindly. She also organised the hair artist for us, and the two of them worked together like an absolute dream team. Everything ran so smoothly, they arrived early, and somehow we even finished early, which any bride knows is almost unheard of on a wedding day - especially with extra people added in! It was Andrew's Milnerton HS Matric Dance and he chose to take his special needs sister along for the ride as in his words, she will never get to experience this in her life. Kay-Lee did an amazing job with my hair and make up for my Valentines Beach Wedding ♥️ She understood exactly what I wanted and made it happen! As I live in Ireland we didn't have time for a trial run so we only met on the afternoon of my big day. The wind was horrendous on the day and there was no plan B! Can an Afrikaans or English-speaking family book the service?
Yes. Kay-Lee welcomes families from Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck, English-medium schools and other City Bowl schools. Share the booking location, services, date and timing when enquiring, followed by the student’s ideas for a clear and comfortable creative consultation.
How are mixed-school friend groups scheduled in the City Bowl?
They can share a booking when the appointment takes place at one agreed location and everyone has the same deadline. Each friend supplies her own look references and service requirements. Kay-Lee keeps the designs individual while coordinating the practical schedule and extra artists where required.
