Family portrait sessions are rarely about heavy glam. Most clients want to look like themselves on a good day — rested skin, soft definition, hair that behaves through group hugs and shifting light. Kay-Lee plans makeup that photographs cleanly and hair that suits the session, whether it is a studio sitting, a garden afternoon or a beach morning.
When more than one adult in the family is being styled, Kay-Lee can discuss simple coordination so the photographs feel cohesive. That does not mean matching makeup. It means finishes that sit well together on camera — for example, similarly polished skin tones and hair shapes that suit each person’s features and outfit.
Fully qualified and mentored by Cecilia Fourie, Kay-Lee uses premium brands including Bobbi Brown, MAC, Estée Lauder, Benefit, NARS, Fenty, Chanel and Kylie Cosmetics. Services focus on adult clients being photographed. If children are in the frame, they are usually styled simply by parents unless a separate arrangement is agreed when you enquire.
Mobile family portrait hair and makeup is available across Cape Town and surrounds, timed to your photographer’s schedule.
Calm Getting-Ready Before the Whole Family Arrives
Family shoots can become busy quickly once everyone is in the room. Kay-Lee works to a clear schedule when multiple adults are booked, confirming each person’s services and the order of styling so the session starts without unnecessary stress.
Bring outfit references and any notes from your photographer about colour or lighting. If one person prefers minimal makeup and another wants more polish, each look is still planned individually rather than forced into a single template.
