Photoshoot glam has a different job from evening makeup. It needs to read cleanly under natural light or studio lighting, photograph without looking mask-like, and stay comfortable while you move between setups. Kay-Lee plans the finish around your shoot brief, wardrobe and the mood you want in the final images — whether that is fresh and natural, soft glam or something more editorial.
Cape Town shoots often include model portfolios and digitals, engagement sessions, maternity portraits, family photography, fitness and physique work, and mum glam for newborn sessions. You do not need a perfect brief to enquire. A mood board, outfit notes and your call time are enough to begin shaping a realistic hair and makeup plan.
Fully qualified and mentored by Cecilia Fourie, Kay-Lee works with premium brands including Bobbi Brown, MAC, Estée Lauder, Benefit, NARS, Fenty, Chanel and Kylie Cosmetics. Texture, undertone and longevity are considered carefully so skin looks intentional on camera rather than flat or overly filtered. Hair is prepared for the planned shapes — polished, textured or deliberately undone — with movement and weather in mind when the shoot is outdoors.

A photoshoot day moves quickly once lighting is set. Kay-Lee confirms timing in advance, builds in room for refinements between looks when multiple changes are booked, and keeps the process calm so you can focus on the photographer’s direction.
If you prefer a barely-there finish, soft glam or a stronger camera look, the conversation stays collaborative. References help — including images you do not want to resemble. The goal is hair and makeup that support the photographs, not compete with them.

I honestly cannot recommend kay-Lee enough. From the moment she arrived on the morning of my wedding, she brought such a calm, comforting energy that completely put me at ease during what could have been a very overwhelming morning. I was so relaxed in her chair that I genuinely almost fell asleep! Not only is she unbelievably talented - my makeup was the best it has ever looked - but she also handled everything with such grace and professionalism. We even had a few extra people unexpectedly wanting makeup done on the day, and she didn’t stress or make it an issue for a second. She accommodated everyone so calmly and kindly. She also organised the hair artist for us, and the two of them worked together like an absolute dream team. Everything ran so smoothly, they arrived early, and somehow we even finished early, which any bride knows is almost unheard of on a wedding day - especially with extra people added in! She truly was one of the highlights of my wedding day. She looked after me so beautifully from start to finish, and I am beyond grateful that she was part of such a special day. Kay-Lee did an amazing job with my hair and make up for my Valentines Beach Wedding ♥️ She understood exactly what I wanted and made it happen! As I live in Ireland we didn't have time for a trial run so we only met on the afternoon of my big day. The wind was horrendous on the day and there was no plan B! Book once your shoot date and approximate call time are confirmed. Weekend sessions and golden-hour outdoor shoots are especially popular. Send the shoot type, location area, services required and whether you need more than one look.
Should photoshoot makeup look different from evening makeup?
Often yes. Camera-ready makeup is planned for lighting and lenses, with attention to texture, undertone and longevity. Kay-Lee adjusts the finish to your brief so it looks intentional in photographs without appearing heavy in person.
Can I book hair only or makeup only for a shoot?
Yes. Many portfolio and portrait clients book makeup only or hair only. Share the exact services when you enquire so the schedule and quote are accurate.
Do you travel to the shoot location?
Mobile bookings are available across Cape Town and surrounds, subject to availability and travel arrangements. Include the getting-ready area and the shoot call time in your enquiry.
